The Dreamer- As Steph likes to tell the story, “Ben proposed then promptly moved to Chile, leaving his Organic Chemistry PhD program because he wanted to be outside, speak Spanish, and make wine - the ultimate combination of art and science.” To put it simply, Ben is a dreamer.

Ben views winemaking through two different lenses as a chemist and someone who has a passion for aroma and flavor. Ben brings the vision, and over a decade of expertise from making wine in Chile, California and Oregon. Combining everything he has learned from mentors like Alejandro Wedeles, Todd Graff, James Frey, Jacques Lardière, Michael Davies, Cheryl Francis, Anna Matzinger and Stephen Webber, Ben looks to craft distinct, authentic wines for Finite Cellars.

The Logical One- The story continues, “as Ben was chasing his dream, Steph finished her PhD, planned their wedding, and got a real job as an engineer.”

Steph enjoys drinking good wine and figuring out how to make things happen. For Finite Cellars, she is often found envisioning the big picture and working through budgets, schedules, and marketing. Is it the logical next step? Steph keeps her dreamer husband focused on the bottom line so that the Finite business is as successful as the quality of the wines they produce.
